A car for champions with dedicated support: The Aston Martin Valkyrie LM

Published 9 June 2025

True motorsport affinity required

The Aston Martin Valkyrie LM is a unique special development based on the current factory race car. As a non-homologated variant, it was designed exclusively for track use and is the only road-derived hypercar competing in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2025. With the Valkyrie LM, Aston Martin marks its return to top-tier motorsport, ambitiously targeting an overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time since its 1959 triumph. The car continues a Le Mans legacy dating back to 1928. The Valkyrie LM remains technically close to the competition vehicle. Only selected elements—such as systems required for homologation—were removed or adapted for track-only use. Despite these modifications, driving characteristics remain nearly identical to the race car. The goal is to deliver an authentic endurance racing experience, accessible even to skilled amateur drivers. Chassis, suspension, and control systems are all configured for maximum performance and precise feedback.

“Valkyrie LM is an exquisite opportunity to be part of the most exclusive Aston Martin owners club in the world; a group who can immerse themselves in the purest and most comparable endurance driving experience, one that would otherwise only be available to our works drivers operating at the very limit of sportscar racing’s highest echelon. Through the decades, Aston Martin has striven to give its owners the truest sense of the performance bred from its racing cars. With Valkyrie LM, there has never been an opportunity to get closer to the raw dynamic forces and state of the art technology deployed by the hypercar currently competing in WEC and IMSA,” explained Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin. Production is strictly limited to just ten units worldwide, each offering significant potential for individualization. The car is intended for a small group of private Aston Martin clients with genuine racing passion. The official unveiling took place in June 2025. First customer deliveries are scheduled for Q2 2026. Additional exclusive track events will follow in Q3 and Q4, with the first year concluding in December 2026 at the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon with a customer gala event.

Just like the Le Mans race car

The Aston Martin Valkyrie LM is powered by the same engine as the current Le Mans race car: a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 developed by Cosworth, delivering 520 kW (697 bhp). Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a 7-speed sequential transmission with paddle shift. The suspension uses a motorsport-derived layout with double wishbones, pushrod torsion bar springs, and adjustable dampers for optimal track performance. High-performance tires, developed specifically for the Valkyrie LM by official Formula 1 supplier Pirelli, ensure maximum grip. To facilitate private use, selected components of the race car were adapted or omitted, including FIA-mandated ballast and specialized electronics. In place of a closed, regulation-compliant torque management system, an open and user-friendly setup is used. The V12 has also been recalibrated for operation with commercial pump fuel—without compromising performance. The cockpit is fully tailored to racing requirements. A custom carbon-fiber race seat with integrated shoulder support and headrest padding provides lateral stability and protection. The 6-point harness compliant with FIA standard 8853 and the integrated fire suppression system ensure safety. The multifunction steering wheel features an integrated display and shift lights, giving the driver complete control and real-time feedback.

Comprehensive support program

Aston Martin offers Valkyrie LM owners a comprehensive driver development program tailored to the demands of the vehicle and the skill level of each participant. The aim is to provide a safe, professionally supported, and highly immersive track experience. The program includes simulator training, detailed track walks, classroom sessions, and 1:1 coaching from experienced instructors. In-depth data and video analysis sessions with the technical team help refine driving technique and vehicle setup. The package also includes a full set of personal safety gear: helmet, HANS device, racing suit, fireproof underwear, gloves, and custom-fitted earpieces. The “fly-in-and-drive” concept greatly reduces logistical effort for customers. Aston Martin handles transport, maintenance, and track preparation of each vehicle. Participants simply arrive—everything else is managed by the factory team.
