A vision rooted in legacy
Bentley has always been a brand where past and future intersect on the tarmac of modern luxury. Now, with the unveiling of its EXP 15 design vision concept, the marque signals a new chapter: a meticulously sculpted narrative born of its storied past and projected forward into an electrified tomorrow. Unveiled at Bentley's newly opened design studio in Crewe, the EXP 15 is not a prototype destined for production, but a full-size statement of intent. Its muscular proportions, elongated bonnet, and rearward-set cabin echo the silhouette of the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman Coupe, the fabled “Blue Train” car. That vehicle raced against a luxury express train and won; this one aims to outpace time itself. Yet the echoes of history are modulated through the lens of cutting-edge innovation. Aerodynamic surfaces and high-tech lighting give the car a thoroughly modern presence, while the upright grille is transformed into a canvas of digital expression. A vertical light spine bisects a reinterpretation of Bentley's signature matrix grille, this time in light.

Sculptural design, aerodynamics, and light as language
Five key exterior principles underpin EXP 15’s architecture. From the 'Upright Elegance' of its confident front fascia to the 'Endless Bonnet Line' that stretches toward the horizon, the vehicle merges classical grandeur with contemporary verve. The ‘Resting Beast’ stance, defined by pronounced rear haunches, evokes restrained power, while the ‘Prestigious Shield’ rear houses diamond-patterned lighting and a reimagined winged B emblem a modern tribute to the 1919 original. Each curve, each surface, is a study in what Bentley terms ‘Monolithic Presence’, ‘Muscular Form’ and ‘Carved Precision’. The bodywork appears hewn from a single block, simultaneously robust and taut, with visual weight reduced through crisp, exacting lines. EXP 15’s lighting is not mere functionality, it's theatre. Ultra-slim LED strips bracket the car’s flanks, framing the grille with an ethereal glow. Diamond motifs, once confined to seat stitching, now pulse through the grille and rear lights in luminous abstraction. Active aerodynamic features, such as twin spoilers and a deployable diffuser, subtly support performance while enhancing visual drama.

A new interior paradigm for Grand touring
Inside, the EXP 15 pivots towards the future through an interior sculpted in virtual reality. But this isn’t a sterile digital exercise; it’s a cocoon of crafted calm. The layout surprises with a 1+2 seating configuration, one driver’s seat, a central rear seat, and a luxuriously flexible passenger seat that swivels outwards for graceful ingress and egress. Inspired by the Speed Six’s unique proportions, the concept rethinks spatial luxury. The interior adheres to five design principles: the wing-inspired dashboard shape, ‘Bold Gravitas’ use of large natural surfaces, and the ‘Cocooning Haven’ of enveloping canopies. Familiar Bentley details, bullseye vents, knurled switchgear, diamond quilting remain, now joined by a sixth sense of design: 'Magical Fusion.' Here, digital and physical blend seamlessly. A glass-covered full-width digital interface can vanish to reveal natural wood beneath. At its center sits the 'Mechanical Marvel', a kinetic sculpture offering dynamic information or serving as a mesmerizing focal point. Material choices reflect Bentley’s heritage and its future. British mill Fox Brothers contributes a 100% wool damson ombré textile, Gainsborough Jacquard silk finds a home alongside woven metal mesh encased in acrylic. Even Bentley’s iconic diamond quilting finds new dimension, backlit and rendered in 3D-cut veneer. Exterior paint in “Pallas Gold”, created with an ultra-thin aluminum pigment, serves both aesthetic and functional roles, it supports Lidar transmission, making it as technologically thoughtful as it is visually arresting.

Beyond concept: A statement of intent
EXP 15 isn't merely a glimpse into Bentley's electric ambitions, it's a manifesto of intent. With an all-electric, all-wheel-drive powertrain expected to offer silent grandeur and long-range capability, this concept encapsulates what a 21st-century Grand Tourer should be: sustainable, soulful, and sensorial. The Blue Train may have been defeated once before. Now, with EXP 15, Bentley positions itself not just to race against time, but to redefine it.
