X Gran Coupé and X Gran Convertible

With the theme “Unfold a New Era of Genesis”, the Korean premium brand Genesis is unveiling two new concept models at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025 (April 4 to 13, 2025): the X Gran Coupé and the X Gran Convertible. Inspired by the olive trees of the Mediterranean region and the exquisite wines of southern Europe, these vehicles present the next evolutionary stage of the brand. With an unmistakable exterior, a luxurious interior and innovative technologies, the result is a must-have combination of sporty aesthetics and luxurious elegance. The new concepts X Gran Coupé and X Gran Convertible are further developments of the G90 and intended to embody the future positioning of Genesis as an emotionally charged luxury brand. While the X Gran Coupé emphasizes the typical blend of elegance and sportiness, the X Gran Convertible expresses a feeling of freedom with its open-air design. “Each concept car is a unique expression of Genesis’ luxury ethos designed to provide a sophisticated and immersive driving experience,” explained Ilhun Yoon, Head of the Genesis Design Center in Seoul, at the launch in Seoul.

Sporty dynamism with an unmistakable design language

The front is dominated by the striking two-line LED headlights, which run across the entire width and blend seamlessly into the characteristic Crest grille of the extended bonnet. The three-dimensional grille is reminiscent of artfully diamond-shaped woven metal strings. The side view is characterized by an aerodynamic silhouette that presents a strongly raked windscreen and a flat roofline. Both vehicles have frameless windows and continuous side glazing without the B-pillar, which ensures flowing lines. The X Gran Coupé is reminiscent of a classic sports car thanks to its elegantly closed roofline. The X Gran Convertible, on the other hand, focuses on the classic open-top driving experience. In addition to the LED tail lights in a two-line design and a discreet spoiler, the individually designed wheels stand out. While the Convertible impresses with a dynamic five-star design with a sculptural cross-section, the Coupé relies on a combination of five double-spokes with additional levels that emphasize the sporty character.

Luxury meets inspiration from nature

The interior of the X Gran Coupé is inspired by olive trees in the Mediterranean region. This is reflected in micro-perforated olive wood elements, soft olive-green lighting and specially designed floor mats with olive leaf motifs. High-quality, chrome-free tanned leather seats create a luxurious ambience, which is rounded off by a quilted leather roof. The X Gran Convertible, on the other hand, reflects a passion for fine wines. The exterior color is reminiscent of grape must, while the interior picks up on the rich hues of a Cabernet Sauvignon from the vineyards of the Italian region of Livorno. The crystal accents placed throughout the interior – on the steering wheel, the center console and the air vents – are inspired by the sandy-loamy soils of the olive groves and offer an aesthetically pleasing design language in both models. For technical sophistication, the front seats are equipped with embedded screens and air vents for rear passengers, while the trunk can be opened touch-free with a hand gesture.

The entry into endurance motorsport

With the new X Gran Coupé and X Gran Convertible concepts, Genesis is taking its understanding of luxury and design to a new level and offering an exciting glimpse into the world of premium automobiles. With a strong focus on design, technology and sustainability, the brand continues its expansion and plans to be a carbon net zero by 2035. At the same time, the brand officially announced its entry into endurance motorsport: the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 2027 IMSA Sportscar Championship. At the Seoul Mobility Show, the brand presented a 1:2 scale model of the GMR-001 hypercar for the first time. “In the 10 years since our launch, Genesis has been dedicated to delivering its unique values to more than 1.3 million customers worldwide,” explained Mike Song, Global Head of Genesis. “We aim to seize this opportunity as a launchpad for a new decade, showcasing models that embody Genesis' pursuit of high-performance technology and future luxury design.”
