A Vision of Unconventional Design
Jaguar has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Type 00, during Miami Art Week, marking a turning point in its history. This striking concept car not only embodies the brand’s creative philosophy of "Exuberant Modernism" but also redefines what it means to innovate in the electric vehicle market. The Type 00 is more than a car; it is a statement of Jaguar’s commitment to originality and artistry as it steps into an all-electric future. Breaking free from the conventions of electric vehicle design, the Type 00 delivers an audacious vision. Its long bonnet, fastback profile, and sweeping roofline evoke the elegance of Jaguar’s iconic past, yet the 23-inch alloy wheels and boat-tail silhouette present a modernist boldness. Each detail is meticulously crafted, creating a sculptural form that captures the eye from every angle. The exterior is defined by flush surfaces, a panoramic roof integrated seamlessly with the body, and the innovative glassless rear tailgate—a striking departure from traditional automotive design. Presented in two colours, Miami Pink and London Blue, the Type 00 bridges Jaguar’s heritage with its forward-thinking ethos. Miami Pink pays homage to the vibrant hues of Art Deco architecture, while London Blue nods to the British craftsmanship that defines Jaguar’s legacy.

A New Creative Philosophy: Exuberant Modernism
The Type 00 serves as the first tangible expression of Jaguar’s new creative philosophy, known as "Exuberant Modernism." This philosophy is built on three core principles: Exuberance: Vibrant and uninhibited, Jaguar’s creations are designed to inspire and excite. Modernism: Always forward-looking and curious, Jaguar respects its heritage while embracing the future. Compelling Connections: Holistic and sensory, Jaguar’s designs aim to forge meaningful relationships with clients. Adrian Mardell, CEO of JLR, highlights the importance of these principles: "The magic of Jaguar lies in its ability to combine artistry and emotional magnetism. The Type 00 embodies this spirit, recapturing the awe that surrounded models like the E-Type while setting a bold path for the future." The Type 00 is underpinned by Jaguar’s new Electric Architecture (JEA), a bespoke platform that enables the car’s dramatic proportions and advanced capabilities. This platform is a clean slate, designed from scratch to ensure that every detail supports Jaguar’s vision of a captivating driving experience. With a target range of up to 770 kilometres (WLTP) and fast-charging capabilities adding 321 kilometres in just 15 minutes, the Type 00 sets a new benchmark for electric performance. This focus on engineering excellence ensures that future Jaguars will offer not only stunning aesthetics but also engaging handling and unrivalled ride comfort.

Artistry Meets Technology in the Interior
Step inside the Type 00, and you are greeted by a modernist interior that mirrors the car’s bold exterior. The cabin is adorned with hand-finished brass accents, including a 3.2-metre-long central spine that runs the length of the interior. Floating instrument panels and sculptural seats rest on a base of soothing travertine stone, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury. Woven textiles, inspired by handwoven yarns, add a tactile element to the interior, while deployable screens and storage areas blend seamlessly into the design. Jaguar’s philosophy of integrating technology without overpowering the design is evident in every detail, from the Clearsight display that replaces the traditional rear-view mirror to the ambient lighting that adapts to the driver’s mood. Mary Crisp, Chief Materiality Designer, describes the approach: "We use authentic, unexpected materials to create an interior that is both artistic and inviting. The interplay of brass, travertine, and textiles brings a unique character to the space." The Type 00’s debut at Miami Art Week underscores Jaguar’s deep connection to the world of art. As the official luxury automotive partner of the event, Jaguar presented a series of installations celebrating British creativity. The reveal of the Type 00 was accompanied by curated gallery spaces showcasing original works by British artists, reinforcing Jaguar’s position as an advocate for art and design. Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar, explains: "Art is a passion point for our clients, and Miami Art Week provided the perfect platform to connect with them. The Type 00 is not just a car; it is a piece of art that embodies Jaguar’s new identity."

Looking Ahead: The Future of Jaguar
The Type 00 is more than a concept; it is the foundation stone for a new generation of Jaguars. Built in the UK, the first production model based on this vision will be an electric four-door GT, set to debut in late 2025. With an expected range of up to 770 kilometres and an emphasis on sustainability, this model will continue Jaguar’s legacy of innovation and elegance. In addition to its vehicles, Jaguar is reimagining its relationship with clients. Exclusive brand stores in cities like Paris will offer immersive experiences that go beyond the traditional showroom, creating spaces that reflect the artistry and sophistication of the Jaguar brand. The Jaguar Type 00 represents a fearless leap into the future, combining the brand’s storied past with an unwavering commitment to innovation. As Jaguar embraces its electric-only transformation, the Type 00 stands as a beacon of what is to come—unmistakable, unexpected, and utterly captivating. With its bold design, advanced engineering, and artistic spirit, the Type 00 is more than a car; it is a testament to Jaguar’s enduring ability to inspire and excite.
