Modena and the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati

Maserati has opened the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati in Modena, an exclusive space for refined vehicle customization. Customers now have the opportunity to design their car with unique colors, materials, and design elements. A newly introduced painting line enables the creation of special color variants and customized finishes, making the vehicle even more individual and exclusive. This new personalization center highlights Maserati’s commitment to high-quality, tailor-made vehicles and offers a unique opportunity to bring personal visions to life in a Maserati. Modena is a city in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, known for its rich history, culinary specialties, and as the home of world-renowned car brands. This hub of the Italian luxury automotive industry has housed Maserati since 1940. The city is inextricably linked to Maserati's tradition and identity. The new program represents a significant investment in the Modena location and its workforce, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to the local community while opening up new growth opportunities. The company and the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati are located at the historic address of Viale Ciro Menotti 322 in Modena. The headquarters spans 4,000 square meters. It also houses the new paint workshop with more than 20 workstations for the daily painting of models such as the Grecale, MC20, GT2 Stradale, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio. Currently, 40 highly skilled specialists work there, with a planned maximum capacity of 110 employees, able to customize up to 24 vehicles per day in up to 24 colors. Santo Ficili, CEO of Maserati, explains the new customization program: “Maserati is synonymous with Italian luxury around the world and celebrating this concept at the highest level means putting the customer's desires first in everything we do, especially in the creation of exclusive cars through the Fuoriserie programme. The attention to detail and needs of those who decide to buy a Maserati is what distinguishes us: with the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati, we offer an additional tailor-made experience, a new chapter in our brand’s history to celebrate our tradition of excellence in artisanship and innovation.”

Fuoriserie Corse and Fuoriserie Futura

With the Maserati Fuoriserie program, customers can customize every detail of their car – from body color to interior materials to the finest trim details. There are two levels of customization: the first is the catalog, which includes two collections – Fuoriserie Corse, inspired by the brand’s motorsport history, and Fuoriserie Futura, aimed at futuristic design concepts. The second level, Bespoke, provides made-to-order manufacturing, where cars are created according to the specific requests of the customer or as unique, one-of-a-kind models. The Maserati MC20 Cielo “Less is More...?” To kick off the Officine Fuoriserie, Maserati presents the exclusive One-Off MC20 Cielo “Less is More...?”. Inspired by the Bauhaus art movement, this vehicle showcases a reduced but refined aesthetic. The Blu Corse Matte body is accentuated by geometric shapes such as dots, lines, and triangles, forming a stylized Trident logo on the hood. With bespoke colors like Rosso Capannelle and Giallo Avia and 20-inch wheels with unique color combinations, this model is a work of art designed to give customers a taste of Maserati's custom manufacturing capabilities.

Family ties

The Maserati brothers were a family of engineers and mechanics. The following four of seven brothers played key roles: Alfieri (1887–1932), the eldest, was a talented engineer and instrumental in the development of Maserati’s first car. He was the main responsible for the design and technical innovations of the early models. Bindo (1883–1973) was also an engineer and later involved in managing the company. Ettore (1884–1947) contributed to the early development of vehicles and racing technologies before leaving the company. Mario (1890–1980), the artistically talented brother, designed the iconic Maserati emblem, which still adorns the cars today. It is inspired by the Neptune statue of Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, symbolizing strength and dynamism. Though Mario had no technical background, his artistry was crucial to the brand. The brothers shared a great passion for motorsport and innovation, quickly making Maserati a renowned brand in automotive manufacturing. Their vision and craftsmanship shaped the development of high-performance vehicles, eventually making the brand world-famous.

A success story since 1914

Maserati's story began on December 1, 1914, when Alfieri Maserati and his brothers founded the company under the name of “Società Anonima Officine Alfieri Maserati” in Bologna. Initially, the company focused on the development and production of racing cars. In its early years, Maserati focused on motorsport and made a name for itself with victories such as the 1926 Targa Florio win with the Maserati Tipo 26. This motorsport DNA still shapes the brand today. Another significant milestone was the relocation of the company’s headquarters to Modena in 1940, where Maserati remains to this day. In 1929, driver Mario Umberto Borzacchini set a new world record in the C-Class driving the Maserati 16-cylinder V4, covering 10 kilometers at a speed of 246.069 km/h. This record kept unbeaten until 1937. In the post-war years, Maserati expanded its portfolio to include luxury street cars. Models like the Maserati A6 and later the iconic Maserati 3500 GT set new standards for elegance and performance. In the 1960s, Maserati was further developed under Citroën’s leadership, leading to technical innovations and new models like the Maserati Bora. The 1990s and early 2000s brought a renaissance for Maserati, especially through its acquisition by Ferrari and later by the Fiat group. Models like the Maserati Quattroporte and GranTurismo solidified the brand’s reputation for high-performance vehicles with luxurious features. Today, Maserati is part of the Stellantis Group and combines tradition, cutting-edge technology, and Italian design. The brand offers a wide range of models, including the Grecale SUV, the iconic GranTurismo, and the GranCabrio convertible. In addition to powerful V6 petrol engines, Maserati is embracing innovative hybrid and fully electric powertrains, like in the GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore. The flagship is the MC20, featuring the state-of-the-art Nettuno V6 engine, utilizing Formula 1 technologie. The new GT2 Stradale marks Maserati’s return to motorsport.
