Maserati in Trieste: Three Exceptional Models on the Roads of Italian Grand Touring
Trieste provided a spectacular backdrop for Maserati’s latest driving experience, organised to showcase three of the brand’s most representative models: the GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Grecale. Between 12 and 25 July 2026, more than 100 journalists from different countries had the opportunity to experience the dynamic qualities of these vehicles on the roads of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Karst plateau. The event was particularly significant for Maserati, as 2026 marks the centenary of the Trident logo and the brand’s victory in the 1926 Targa Florio. The route also offered an opportunity to rediscover the historic connection between Maserati and the famous Trieste-Opicina hill climb, which was the scene of important victories for the brand between the 1950s and 1960s. This heritage perfectly reflects the philosophy of Italian Grand Touring, where performance, elegance and driving pleasure come together in a single experience.
Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Trofeo: The Nettuno V6 at the Heart of Performance
The Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo and GranCabrio Trofeo represent the sportiest expression of Maserati Grand Touring. Both are powered by the 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6, developing 590 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Compared with the previous generation, power has increased by 40 hp, while top speed exceeds 320 km/h. The range also includes a 490 hp version, while all-wheel drive and height-adjustable air suspension help combine high-performance driving with long-distance comfort. The GranTurismo retains its four-seat configuration, while the GranCabrio adds the pleasure of open-air driving to the same sporting philosophy.
Maserati Grecale Trofeo: 530 hp and 0–100 km/h in 3.8 Seconds
The Maserati Grecale was also a central part of the driving experience in Trieste. In Grecale Trofeo specification, the Italian SUV is equipped with the 3.0-litre Nettuno V6, producing 530 hp. Its performance figures are particularly impressive for an SUV: 0–100 km/h takes just 3.8 seconds, while top speed reaches 285 km/h. The Grecale range also includes other powertrains, including V6 versions and the 390 hp Modena V6, providing a broad choice between performance, comfort and everyday usability. The route through the Karst roads highlighted the SUV’s dynamic character and its ability to reinterpret the Maserati philosophy for modern everyday driving.
Maserati Fuoriserie: Where Italian Performance Meets Personalisation
Beyond performance, Maserati placed particular emphasis on the possibilities offered by its Maserati Fuoriserie personalisation programme. The service allows customers to configure their cars through a wide selection of materials, colours and details, transforming each model into a personal expression of Maserati design. The brand also highlighted the role of ITS Arcademy and Italian design culture in this personalisation process. Maserati’s range is also moving towards electrification, with Folgore versions available across several models, including the GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Grecale. Alongside its road cars, the brand continues to maintain a strong presence in the high-performance segment with models such as the MC family, the GT2 Stradale and the MCXtrema. Together, these models demonstrate Maserati’s ambition to combine Italian heritage, technology, sporting character and personalisation in the modern interpretation of Grand Touring.
