With the G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s, Mercedes-Benz is presenting an exclusive special edition that pays homage to the legendary W 460 models and the classic 280 GE reviving the history of the G-Class. The small series is limited to just 460 units worldwide and is aimed at enthusiasts and connoisseurs of this on- and off-road icon as a collector's item. The exterior of the G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s combines nostalgic aesthetics with modern aspirations and brings back the style of the 1980s – with angular edges and curves – onto the road in an astonishingly authentic way.
Retro flair with modern luxury
Customers can choose from three historic paint finishes to guarantee an appearance that is true to the original: MANUFAKTUR agave green solid symbolizes robustness and closeness to nature with its earthy tone and is reminiscent of the capabilities of the off-road vehicle, MANUFAKTUR cream solid embodies timeless elegance and was particularly popular with city dwellers at the time, while MANUFAKTUR colorado beige solid conveys a sense of adventure and freedom with this all-rounder. In keeping with this, original orange indicators and elements painted in Night black magno, such as the grille, bumpers and exterior mirrors, echo the striking design of the original G-Class. The appearance is complemented by the black technical underbody protection and classic 5-spoke light-alloy wheels. The Mercedes star on the hood appears in historic style with a blue background and laurel wreath, while original design elements such as the silver brand badge and a special spare wheel cover from the 1980s are installed at the rear. The equipment with elements from the PROFESSIONAL Line Exterior, including mud flaps, protective grilles for the headlights, and robust all-terrain tires, ensures an even more powerful off-road look. A roof rack can be added as an option. The exterior appearance is rounded off by the black MANUFAKTUR logo package, which sets attractive accents with an embossed doorknob and an exclusive logo projector that casts the lettering “G – STRONGER THAN TIME” onto the floor when getting in.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s also sets stylistic accents in the interior, bringing the spirit of the 1980s to life. The black leather seats with famous dove-grey fabric inserts with a check pattern quote the characteristic design of the early G-Class models and create a successful combination of retro charm and modern comfort. Detailed decorative elements underline the exclusivity: the grab handle on the passenger side bears the lettering “STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”, the door sill panels show the topography of the Schöckl mountain – the legendary test site near Graz – and the “Schöckl Proved” badge on the B-pillar is a vintage-style reminder of the model series' rich history and performance. The “1 of 460” lettering on the center console emphasizes the special collector's value. The interior is completed by modern premium equipment: including a multifunction steering wheel in Nappa leather, a sliding glass sunroof, and the high-quality Burmester 3D surround sound system for the hits of the 80s ensure an exclusive driving experience at the most modern level.
