Enhanced standard features and 3 new models: Porsche expands all-wheel drive offering for its 911

Fall in love again with a classic

Porsche is expanding the versatility of the 911 model range by increasing the number of all-wheel-drive variants to six. With the introduction of the new 911 Carrera 4S Coupé, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and 911 Targa 4S, three new models join the lineup below the more powerful GTS versions. These new S models offer increased performance potential, broader customization options and further enhanced standard equipment. With all-wheel drive proving especially popular among customers, Porsche is responding to the demand for maximum traction and driving stability in varying weather conditions. The signature rear-focused driving characteristics of the 911 are retained: Porsche Traction Management (PTM) distributes torque to the front axle as needed. The front-axle transmission continues to be water-cooled, with minor adjustments to the gear ratio. The 911 Targa, traditionally available exclusively with all-wheel drive, remains true to this layout in its latest generation.

Celebrating 60 years of the Porsche 911 Targa

Since its debut at the 1965 IAA in Frankfurt, the Porsche 911 Targa has become a distinct model within the 911 lineup. Originally developed as a “safety cabriolet” for the U.S. market, it continues to combine open-top driving with the comfort and everyday usability of a coupé. A defining feature is its motorsport-inspired roll bar, which contributes both to occupant safety and to the model’s distinctive silhouette. By the way, the name “Targa” pays tribute to the legendary Sicilian Road race, the Targa Florio. With the introduction of the 993 generation in 1993, the roof no longer had to be removed manually. Since 2006, all Targa models have been equipped exclusively with an all-wheel drive. Beginning with the 2014 model year, a fully automatic roof system allows the car to transform from a closed coupé to an open one in just 19 seconds. The current roof module is available in four colors: black, blue, red, and brown.

Increased power and broader equipment range

The new 911 Carrera 4S is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine, producing 353 kW (480 PS) (an increase of 30 PS over its predecessor). The performance gain is partly due to a revised intercooler system derived from the 911 Turbo. Power is delivered via an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK). The 911 Carrera 4S Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 s when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. The top speed is 308 km/h. Standard equipment includes 20/21-inch Carrera S wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), a sport exhaust system, and a braking system with red callipers (408 mm front, 380 mm rear). Also, standard are matrix LED headlights, a leather interior package, and wireless smartphone charging. The 911 Targa 4S is additionally fitted with rear-axle steering. The Coupé is delivered as a two-seater by default; rear seats are available at no extra cost. Other standard features include electrically folding exterior mirrors, the Light Design Package, a rain sensor, and Lane Keep Assist. Numerous options are available for individual customization, including materials, colors, roof variants, assistance systems, and sound systems.
