Range Rover Electric: A New Era for the British Luxury SUV

Range Rover is opening a new chapter in its history with the introduction of its first fully electric model. True to the philosophy of “Range Rover first, electric second”, the new Range Rover Electric retains the instantly recognisable design, refined comfort and exceptional capabilities that have defined the model since 1970, while introducing a fully electric powertrain. Quieter, more responsive and offering greater torque than any Range Rover before it, the new luxury SUV combines comfort, performance and versatility without compromise. Developed and built in Solihull, United Kingdom, Range Rover Electric represents a major milestone for the brand and is the result of a decade of intensive technological development.

Range Rover Electric with 550 HP: Performance and Up to 600 km of Range

At the heart of the new electric powertrain are two 260 kW permanent-magnet electric motors. Together, they deliver up to 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque, providing performance comparable with the power delivery traditionally associated with a V8 engine. The announced range reaches up to 600 km according to the WLTP cycle, while real-world testing indicates up to 536 km under the manufacturer’s reference conditions. Range Rover Electric accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, combining strong acceleration with the smooth and immediate response characteristic of electric propulsion. Its 800-volt electrical architecture and 118.5 kWh usable lithium-ion battery also contribute to its energy efficiency.

Range Rover Electric: Fast Charging and Genuine Off-Road Capability

Electrification does not come at the expense of the legendary off-road capabilities associated with Range Rover. The new Integrated Traction Management (ITM) system can control motor speed and manage wheel slip in just 50 milliseconds, up to 100 times faster than an equivalent system in a vehicle powered by an internal-combustion engine. Working together with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics and the new Single Pedal mode, this technology provides precise traction control across challenging surfaces. Range Rover Electric can tackle gradients of up to 45 degrees and wade through water up to 900 mm deep. Charging performance is equally impressive: thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes using a 350 kW DC rapid charger. Under optimal conditions, up to 220 km of WLTP range can also be recovered in just ten minutes.

Range Rover Electric: Technology, Luxury and Bespoke Personalisation

To ensure that the first electric Range Rover meets the brand’s demanding standards, the model has undergone an exceptionally intensive development and testing programme. More than 1.5 million kilometres have been covered, alongside more than 250,000 hours of virtual and physical testing, from the extreme temperatures of Arjeplog in Sweden to the heat of the Dubai desert. ThermAssist™ technology optimises thermal management, range, charging times and battery performance. According to JLR, the system can add up to 40 km of range while reducing the energy required for cabin heating by up to 40 per cent. More than 300 patent applications have also been filed for Range Rover Electric, the highest number ever recorded for a single vehicle in the brand’s history. Inside, advanced technology meets Range Rover’s traditional approach to luxury. A new smartphone application allows owners, among other functions, to monitor the vehicle’s state of charge and estimated range. The First Edition is also available with exclusive materials such as Ultrafabrics™ PU and Kvadrat™, together with Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue exterior colours. Orders for Range Rover Electric are now open, with a choice of trim levels and body configurations depending on the market.
