Future Alpine A110: A New Generation Focused on Design
Alpine is revealing the first details of the future Alpine A110, the third generation of the legendary French sports car. For only the second time in its 71-year history, the iconic A110 is preparing to be renewed, while remaining faithful to the core values that have defined the model: lightness, driving pleasure, sporty proportions and French expertise. Rather than immediately unveiling the new bodywork, Alpine has chosen an original artistic approach, presenting a sculpture that allows observers to anticipate the main lines and proportions of the new Alpine A110. The sculpture therefore represents a first visual interpretation of the work carried out by Alpine’s designers. Beneath a veil covering the structure, the volumes, proportions and overall stance of the future sports car can be perceived. This approach allows Alpine to reveal the essence of the future design without fully exposing the final bodywork. At the same time, the project highlights the close relationship between automotive art, design and aerodynamic research.
New Alpine A110 Design: The Legacy of the Berlinette Reinterpreted
Despite its evolution, the future Alpine A110 will remain deeply connected to the brand’s heritage. The sculpture reveals proportions inspired by the original Berlinette and the current A110, while introducing a contemporary, more dynamic and sculptural interpretation. The front end is expected to retain Alpine’s characteristic V-shaped treatment, complemented by a distinctive dual light signature. The silhouette is also defined by a flowing waistline extending from a shark-nose-inspired front end to a particularly low rear section. The passenger compartment takes on a smooth, teardrop-like shape, positioned between four muscular and prominent wheel arches. Alpine is therefore introducing a design language based on the contrast between tension, sensual volumes and clean surfaces, combining emotion with technical precision.
Alpine A110 and Aerodynamics: A Sculpture Inspired by the Concorde
The choice of the blue veil surrounding the sculpture is far from accidental. Its tension, shaped as if caught by the wind, immediately evokes lightness and aerodynamics, two essential characteristics of a modern sports car. One of Alpine’s key sources of inspiration was the Concorde, a symbol of French technological excellence. More specifically, the moment when the aircraft breaks through the sound barrier provided a major source of inspiration for the sculpture. This inspiration reflects the ambition of Alpine’s designers to express speed, energy and movement through the vehicle’s form. The future A110 is therefore expected to combine a fluid and refined silhouette with more expressive elements, while preserving the fundamental characteristics of its identity. The result points towards a modern, aerodynamic and instantly recognisable Alpine A110.
New APP Platform: The Future Alpine A110 Enters a New Era
Beyond its design, the third-generation Alpine A110 will be developed around an entirely new technical architecture: the Alpine Performance Platform (APP). This platform was previously presented as part of Renault Group’s FutuREady plan. In July, a development vehicle named Alpine A110 FUTURE was also demonstrated to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The prototype used bodywork derived from the current A110, modified to accommodate the new dimensions of the APP platform. The new architecture therefore represents an important milestone in the development of the future Alpine A110. For now, Alpine is focusing its communication on the design and identity of the third generation, whose first lines are being hinted at through this striking sculpture. The sculpture will also be one of the highlights of the Alpine stand at the Paris Motor Show from 12 October 2026, giving visitors a first opportunity to discover this new interpretation of the iconic French sports car.
