McLaren Project Viva by MSO: The Art of Las Vegas, Reimagined in Motion

Published 13 November 2025

A singular vision ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix

Under the glimmering lights of Nevada’s most electrifying skyline, McLaren Automotive unveils a creation that transforms place into poetry. Project Viva by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is a one-of-one 750S Spider, hand-crafted to embody the rhythm, energy, and allure of Las Vegas. Revealed just days before the Las Vegas Grand Prix, it stands not only as a bespoke masterpiece but as a declaration of McLaren’s philosophy: that true performance extends beyond speed, into the artistry of design itself. Commissioned as a singular expression of creativity, Project Viva channels the shared spirit of innovation and ambition that links McLaren and the city it celebrates. Where Vegas dazzles in colour and motion, Viva finds beauty in restraint. Its creators at MSO have rendered the “City of Lights” in monochrome, a bold inversion of expectation that captures the essence of McLaren’s identity: to challenge convention and redefine emotion through engineering and design.

Translating the city that never sleeps

The premise behind Project Viva is as daring as the city that inspired it. Rather than reproducing the neon vibrance of Las Vegas through vivid hues, MSO imagined the skyline in motion, light and shadow distilled into fine, hand-painted linework that wraps the 750S Spider in kinetic form. This ‘Sketch in Motion’ livery evokes the pulse of the Strip: the sweep of its architecture, the glint of marquees, and the rhythm of its nightlife, all translated into monochrome brushstrokes. MSO’s designers describe the process as “painting performance.” Each stroke tells part of a larger story, a visual symphony that unites McLaren’s motorsport heritage with the cultural texture of Las Vegas. The design draws inspiration from both art deco signage and aerodynamic form, capturing not just a city but an atmosphere. The result is an aesthetic paradox: restraint that feels alive, where light, reflection, and velocity merge into a moving piece of art. The core paintwork blends two bespoke finishes created exclusively for Project Viva. Muriwai White, an elegant, heritage-infused shade referencing Bruce McLaren’s family home in New Zealand, anchors the composition with subtle warmth. It contrasts against Vegas Nights, a newly developed MSO tone, deep black infused with microscopic flecks of cyan, magenta, and green. Under artificial light, the surface shimmers like the desert sky after sunset, echoing the neon luminescence of the city itself.

Handcrafted by MSO, signed by racing royalty

At McLaren Special Operations, personalisation is an art form, and Project Viva represents the division at its creative zenith. Every detail of the 750S Spider’s transformation was executed by hand, each line, each texture layered with deliberate precision. The bespoke paint process took weeks of refinement, involving multiple stages of application and curing to ensure depth, symmetry, and a flawless finish that changes character as light moves across its surface. Adding to its exclusivity, McLaren Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri personally contributed to Viva’s design, applying their own hand-drawn accents and commemorative touches. Among them: the tenth Constructors’ World Championship star, symbolising McLaren Racing’s recent triumph, carefully integrated into the rear bumper. Subtle signatures and linework from both drivers merge seamlessly into the livery, reminders that this creation is as much about heritage as it is about innovation.

When performance becomes art

Project Viva will be showcased at the McLaren Experience Centre within the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel, from 13–20 November 2025, coinciding with the spectacle of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It’s a fitting setting: a car born of performance and imagination, unveiled in a city where light and motion never rest. Yet Project Viva’s legacy will endure far beyond the Strip. It serves as a statement of what McLaren’s bespoke artistrynow represents, a fusion of emotion, craftsmanship, and narrative depth. This one-off 750S Spider is not simply a machine; it’s an idea in physical form, proof that McLaren’s pursuit of excellence can extend to any canvas, from racetrack to rooftop. Through its monochrome palette, Project Viva captures the electric heartbeat of Las Vegas not by imitating its colour, but by abstracting its energy. It’s an ode to contrast: light versus dark, speed versus stillness, precision versus passion. In doing so, McLaren Special Operations redefines what it means for a car to tell a story, not in words, but in motion. As the desert sky deepens and the Strip comes alive in light, Project Viva by MSO stands gleaming beneath it all, not reflecting Las Vegas, but reimagining it. It is performance transformed into poetry, and proof that for McLaren, innovation is never just mechanical, it’s emotional.
