As spirited as a racehorse: The new Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear

Published 25 June 2025

This is horsepower in its purest form!

The Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear was unveiled in a private, invitation-only setting, exclusively and discreetly, in true Koenigsegg style. Limited to just 30 units, this high-performance megacar was already sold out before its official presentation. Despite its uncompromising track focus, the vehicle is fully homologated for road use and street-legal worldwide. The name “Sadair's Spear” has personal significance: it refers to the favorite racehorse of Jesko von Koenigsegg, father of company founder Christian von Koenigsegg and a passionate jockey. Sadair's Spear was the horse he rode in his last race. The Jesko model already served as a monument to the family patriarch. Now, his passion for equestrian sports is being carried on with this model. The Sadair's Spear aims for uncompromising dominance on the road and track – just like a fiery racehorse. In its first test at the Gotland Ring, the car beat the previous lap record set by the Jesko Attack by 1.1 seconds. Christian von Koenigsegg explained: “Sadair’s Spear represents a natural progression for Koenigsegg – an impeccable balance of raw power, refined aerodynamics, and extraordinary road presence. This car is destined to set records. Achieving such track dominance in a fully road-legal vehicle is nothing short of remarkable.” On the tenth anniversary of the groundbreaking Koenigsegg One:1, the Sadair's Spear is once again setting new standards. The brand's desire was to create something truly new. „It has to bring something new. It really has to be something special that we haven’t done in that way before”, Koenigsegg added. The brand is known for its tailor-made solutions and innovative strength and remains the only manufacturer worldwide of series-production road-legal vehicles that achieve a power-to-weight ratio of over 1:1. An engineering feat that is unparalleled in the automotive world!

A phenomenal engine

The Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear pushes performance to the next level through advanced aerodynamics and exceptional power. A new, top-mounted twin-blade active rear wing maximizes downforce and cornering grip, while the elongated rear end enhances stability. Further aerodynamic refinements include enlarged front canards, redesigned louvers, a Gurney flap, and optimized hood vents, all working together with underfloor strakes and wheel arch louvres to ensure cooling all without sacrificing performance. The Sadair’s Spear is powered by Koenigsegg’s proven twin-turbo V8, delivering 1,300 hp on conventional fuel and up to 1,625 hp when running on environmentally friendly E85. Newly developed air intakes contribute an additional boost of up to 25 hp, while the revised engine calibration and Koenigsegg’s revolutionary Light Speed Transmission (LST) ensure instantaneous power delivery—flywheel-free and capable of an astonishing 46,000 rpm. The suspension system is purpose-built for track domination. Exclusive 7-spoke Aircore carbon fibre wheels with a turbine-inspired design and ultra-wide, track-optimized high-performance tires provide maximum grip and control. Lightweight springs and Koenigsegg’s own Triplex dampers deliver outstanding stability and handling. Braking performance is equally uncompromising, with upgraded multilayer carbon-ceramic discs and new high-performance brake pads ensuring consistent stopping power under extreme track conditions.

Minimalist yet refined

The interior of the Sadair’s Spear adheres to a clear guiding principle: an uncompromising focus on track performance without foregoing essential comfort features. The design is deliberately minimalist, featuring newly developed, ultra-light carbon seats that offer optimal support under high lateral loads. To further reduce weight, insulation was selectively minimized (minus 2.6 kg) and advanced carbon manufacturing techniques were employed (minus 1.3 kg), resulting in a significant overall weight advantage. Gear changes are executed exclusively via steering wheel-mounted paddles, underlining the purist driving experience. Optional six-point racing harnesses are available in select markets, further emphasizing the car’s motorsport credentials. Despite the consistent reduction layout, the Sadair's Spear remains suitable for everyday use. It features Koenigsegg's signature the steering-mounted SmartCluster display, SmartCenter infotainment system, USB port, wireless charging, the automated Autoskin system, and a birds-eye parking assist.
