The fastest megacar in the world: the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

Published 3 April 2025

Only for racetrack masters

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut was launched in 2020 and is a superlative hyper sports car aimed at an exclusive target group. It is ideal for car lovers who appreciate maximum performance and innovative technology. Collectors of rare cars might handle it as a coveted investment, as only 125 will be built. Depending on the extras, a price of 3 to 4 million euros can be expected. For racetrack enthusiasts, the Jesko Absolut offers uncompromising performance, while extreme speed fans will be fascinated by its potential as the fastest Koenigsegg of all time. The car is not really made for everyday driving, although it is road legal. It absolutely requires high-speed experience to drive this rocket on the asphalt.

Technical details for absolute speed

The 5.0-liter V8 biturbo engine delivers 1,280 hp (with E85 fuel even 1,600 hp) and 1,500 Nm of torque. Thanks to its low-profile crankshaft weighing just 12.5 kg, the engine reaches up to 8,500 rpm. The twin ceramic ball bearing turbochargers with Koenigsegg Response System ensure immediate, strong power delivery. The 9-speed Light Speed Transmission (LST) system – a specialty developed in-house by the brand – enables extremely fast gear changes without delay. This is not a traditional double clutch, but instead a multi-clutch system for immediate gear changes. The skip-shift function also makes it possible to skip several gears at once in both directions. With a length of 4,845 mm, a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, and a dry weight of just 1,290 kg, the Jesko Absolut is exceptionally light and stable. Its aerodynamics are optimized for minimal air turbulence: the drag coefficient of 0.278, an extended rear, and aerodynamic wheel covers significantly reduce air resistance. Without the large rear wing (like its sibling model features) but equipped with rear hood fins, it achieves the highest top speed of any Koenigsegg – an astonishing 500 km/h!

Each car is unique

Each Koenigsegg model is handcrafted in the production facility (a former hangar for military aircraft in Ängelholm): A laborious process that will take around 6 to 8 months per vehicle to ensure the highest quality and precision. The carbon fiber body and chassis are produced by the brand itself, resulting in an extremely light yet stable structure. The engine and the innovative gearbox are in-house developments and individually adapted to each vehicle. The customer can freely choose the paintwork, materials, colors and design elements, which increases the production time but makes the car unique. Before delivery, each vehicle undergoes extensive aerodynamic and performance tests. As the brand can only produce a limited number of vehicles per year, the entire series of 125 Jesko Absolut models will run for several years. This exclusivity makes it one of the most sought-after hyper sports cars in the world. The start of production has not yet been set, but all models have already been sold out in advance. The extravagant exterior of the Jesko Absolut features slim LED headlights, striking air inlets and an aggressive front part, emphasizing its high-speed character. With a wide, flat silhouette, it is designed for extreme performance. The distinctive F-15 fighter jet-inspired rear fins are the car's highlight and distinguishing feature, which also sets it apart from the standard Jesko model. Luxurious materials such as leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber, aluminum and glass will be used in the interior, creating an elegant and sporty style without being boring. The equipment will be based on the layout of the regular Jesko and leave nothing to be desired in terms of functionality and design.

Addicted to speed

The Koenigsegg brand, which was founded in 1994 by Christian von Koenigsegg in Ängelholm, Sweden, stands for extreme performance. The desire to build the ultimate super sports car and the fastest car in the world was already achieved with the predecessor models of the Jesko Absolut. In 2002, the CC8S entered the stage as the most powerful production engine of its time with a new speed record in 2004. The Agera RS achieved this title in 2017 with a top speed of 447.19 km/h. In 2020, Koenigsegg presented the Jesko Absolut, an even more sophisticated aerodynamic masterpiece. Koenigsegg, who was born in 1972, was already fascinated by high-performance sports cars and their technology as a child. He was inspired by an animated film about a super sports car, so the story goes, which made him decide as a teenager to build his own car, and the fastest one at that. With no previous experience, he founded the brand at the age of just 22 – today he is considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the automotive industry. The Jesko Absolut combines extreme aerodynamics, minimal weight, innovative gear technology and brute performance in a package that is specifically designed for absolute top speed. While the competition is aiming for similar figures, the Koenigsegg scores with its in-house cutting-edge technology and the fastest gearbox in the world.
