Tribute to a legend: The Lotus Emira Clark Edition

Published 1 May 2025

Unsurpassed moments in motorsport history

To mark the 60th anniversary of Jim Clark's historic motorsport successes, Lotus is presenting a very special tribute: the Lotus Emira Clark Edition. This exclusive special edition is limited to just 60 cars worldwide and was developed in close collaboration with the Jim Clark Trust. Its celebratory world premiere took place at the 2025 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami. The special edition is based on the powerful Lotus Emira V6. Jim Clark is regarded as one of the most talented and famous racing drivers in motorsport history. His 1965 season was particularly successful: he won both the Formula 1 World Championship and the prestigious Indianapolis 500 – a double success that is still unrivaled today! After his fatal accident at the Hockenheimring in 1968, the racing world mourned deeply, with widespread sympathy across the community.

James Clark Jr. was born on March 4, 1936, in Kilmany, Scotland. He obtained his driver's license at the age of 18 and gained his first racing experience in local club races in Scotland. In 1958, he met Colin Chapman, the founder of Lotus, whereupon he drove exclusively for his team from 1960 onwards. He was characterized by an exceptionally precise driving style, high speed and a pronounced technical sensitivity. He demonstrated his versatility in numerous racing series, including Formula 1, IndyCar, touring cars and Formula 2. In Formula 1, he showed an impressive career record with 72 races, 25 wins, 33 pole positions and 32 fastest laps.

Refined with the Jim Clark signature

The special model is equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 engine as well as 400 PS and promises pure driving pleasure. It features a 6-speed manual gearbox, a limited slip differential and hydraulic steering. The standard Lotus Driver's Pack includes sports suspension, Track Mode and a modified exhaust sound. The design language is strongly inspired by the legendary Team Lotus racing cars of 1965. The exterior of the Emira Clark Edition is highlighted in a sophisticated Clark Racing Green paint finish, combined with a black roof, silver exterior mirrors and an iconic yellow front stripe. Further loving details such as a hand-painted yellow stripe along the body, a blue aluminum fuel cap, yellow exhaust pipes, and the Clark Edition logo on the doors make this model a real collector's item.

The interior of the car also features a unique combination of nostalgia, exclusivity, and a deliberately driver-centric design. The asymmetrical design of the sports seats is reminiscent of Clark's original racing cars: the driver's seat is upholstered in red leather and Alcantara, while the passenger seat is kept in classic black. Another highlight is the wooden gear knob in the style of the 1960s, which perfectly matches the historic homage. Fine details such as the commemorative emblem with Clark tartan from Lochcarron (Scotland), the Jim Clark signature on the dashboard and Team Lotus accents on the seats underline the tribute character of this special edition. Each car also comes with numbered carbon fiber treadplates (1 of 60) and a bespoke, handmade leather bag with Clark Edition details as an exclusive extra. In Switzerland, the car is available for CHF 134'121.
